Rockhampton to Yeppoon
Well the morning started off beautifully, sunny, warm, blue sky, then one skinned elbow of Lily and not 10minutes later a skinned elbow from Toby. So needless to say the short trip to Yeppoon was a lot on whinging and whining for 2 sore elbowed children.
We had planned just to show up at Yeppoon and stay for 5-7 nights but a chance meeting Adam had over shaving in the morning meant that we made a few phone calls and found out that heaps of the caravan parks in Yeppoon were booked out. Seems its 'grey-nomad' season.
So we booked into Cool Waters for 2 nights and Big4 for 5 nights (they were only 2km apart).
We had a couple of things we needed from a supermarket to get and so thought before we headed to Yeppoon we’ll stop off at one of the big shopping centres for a supermarket but nothing is open, I reckon we went to 5 different supermarkets and nothing in Rockhampton on Sunday is open. I don’t understand how such a big city can just shut down for the day. So we resigned ourselves to baked beans (or some other tinned food) for lunch/dinner and headed for Yeppoon. To our surprise, everything in Yeppoon was open. It’s not a big town but everything was open. So after arriving and setting up, we headed into town to get our supplies, spent the afternoon on the beach eating an icecream. Beautiful
