After walking up and down Mt Rinjani our legs hurt. After a night of luxury in Sengiggi (air-con & hot water), we decided to recover by spending 4 days on a boat to Flores. Stopping every now and then to swim and snorkel, we also visited the Komodo and Rinca Islands which are part of a national park to see the Komodo Dragons on the way. They were like big grey monitor lizards and didn't do much except soak up the sun. I'm not sure who were the most lethargic - the dragons or the park guides. The islands were dry and rugged, very different to the greenery in Bali and Lombok.

The boat was wooden and pretty basic - we all slept on deck at night. We soon got to know the other 7 people on the boat! The crew served-up every combination of banana pancakes, rice and noodles we could think of. It was good, basic food and lots of it. Luckily we also had some Bintang to wash it down with. It was a very relaxing way to travel and a good way to take-in the scenery of the many islands we passed. One night we anchored-up by some mangroves where a big gang of Flying Foxes lived. In the evening they flew around the boat. We also went fishing, but only Andrea caught a fish. Unfortunately it was too small to eat.

Upon arriving at Labuanbajo on the West coast of Flores we went off to find some steaks!
