a brief stop was taken in the city centre to grab some luch and for me to buy my much needed malaria tablets before we headed down to the harbour front on the MRT to catch a ferry. within five mins of arriving at the ferry terminal we were on our way to Pulau Batam in Indonesia. the ferry took an hour to get there and then on arrival we got stung and made to buy a seven dau US10 visa despite being told the town was a visa free entry/exit point for Indonesia. We then did much the same as in Johur Bahru - we took in the even fewer and less impressive "sights" and again tried and failed to do some cheap shopping - the sum total of our days shopping exploits were two cans of sunkist for the bargain price of seven thousand indonesian rupiah!! we didnt remain in indonesia much longer after our little tour due the taxi drivers not leaving us alone with both offers of rides and "other services" shall we say and also the fact that the place was teaming with cockroaches!! lets just say indonesia was an "experience" and that me and ad wont be rushing back antyime soon. well atleast to that little part anyway! then just to top off the day, upon arrival in s'pore ad got taken into the immigration offices for the second time that day as they thought he didnt look like his passport photo.
so that was a fairly busy day yesterday, it was an experience to say the least and we were fairly knackered when we arrived back at the hostel. we think its gotta be some sort of record - 3 countries in a day - we were getting some fairly odd looks from some very confused s'pore immigration officials yesterday what with us entering and leaving the country three times in one day!!
