bonjour from sunny huaraz,
Since ad last wrote on here you will all be glad to know i can now stay off the throne for longer than 5 mins.
First of all the trip up here, the bus journey took a casual nine and a half hours with around 25 stops for peruvian tramps to get on and off in a attempt to sell me and ad anything from corn on the cob to newspapers to sunglasses.
once we arrived in huaraz we suddenly felt the altitude abit as walking up the hill gave us a good headache, the town is at over 10,000 ft.
the next day we got involved in a day hike which we thought would me nice and casual but thats not how it turned out. first of all we had a one hour bus ride up a dirt track which almost made us enjoy brekky for a second time. the walk ended up being a 6 hour trek up to 15,000 ft. the going up part wasnt that bad but coming down we got the mother of all headaches, i felt like my head was slowly imploding.
anyway must go theres a beer with my name on it.
will inform you all of our exploits on our 12 day trek which starts tomorrow once we are back.
