I have been spending a tonne of time in La Gallina these days travelling the hour or so from
Managua and every ride has been relatively uneventful meaning no major accidents or casualties. Friday, however was 100% different then the rest of the days. The innocent life of a chicken was blown to literal pieces during this fateful day. Our driver Ervin was motoring down the paving stone highway at incredible speeds, well not really I am just adding it for effect, when a chicken made a wrong decision and walked aimlessly out onto the highway and got struck in a horrific way by our truck. As I looked behind me all I could see was mucho plumas (feathers), it was like driving in a blizzard with zero visibility. That damn chicken turned into "chicle" which is Spanish slang for it got destroyed! The look on Ervin's face was priceless! He thought everyone in the truck was sleeping but little did he know I was wide awake and saw the whole chicken destruction occur. Ervin had the look of bewilderment when he looked in the rear view mirror and saw me with the biggest grin of my life on my face. But then he shrugged his shoulders as if to say "shit happens right"and I think shit literally did happen when the chicken seen its impending death. Nobody said chickens were smart at all. This story will be talked about for ages I believe, it was gutbusting funny and the images of that fateful day will be in my mind forever!
