We arrived in Uyuni on Friday 5th for the start of our 3 day tour into the Bolivian Salt Plains. Whe planning the trip we hadnīt intended to include Bolivia on uor travels but thanks to the recommendations of others we are very glad to have included the detour. The scenary was spectacular and hugely varied from salt plains (which look like snow in the photos) to lagoons ranging in colour from red to blue to white to green depending on the algae and mineral content, to flamingoes which get redder depending on how much red algae they eat, to volcanos, geysers and hot springs where we braved the -15 degree temperatures for a much needed soak which was heavenly! All in all it was like nothing we have ever seen before and we have attached a few photos of the journey to give you a flavour.
The end of the tour marked the end of our time in Bolivia ... a great country with great people, sights, suonds and especially prices. We only wished we could have stayed longer!
Sorry for so many entries this time but itīs the only way to map our route. Hope all is well back in UK and that the English / Irish summer has finally arrived.
