The City Night Line (cnl) totally rocks. It is like a moving hotel. There are 2 wash basins and one wc per carriage. Powerpoints are also provided in your cabin and the wash rooms. Not only are the facilities good, services are excellent as well. The train conductor speaks english and he will wake you up 20 mins before your stop. This is superb hotel room service and what i call the german standard. :)
Prior to our stop, Offenburg the train stopped and we tried to alight but the conductor quickly stepped out to stop us, telling us that the stop is baden-baden. Amazing service :)

Then we took regional express to triberg. There is in-train food trolley and the toilet looks cool with its automatic door. Another awesome train.

Lockers are limited at triberg station so do go early to get a locker. Only three big lockers are available. There is bus service from the train station to the marketplatz which is in the centre of the attractions. You don't have to worry about not having exact change for the bus fare as the ticket machine on the bus gives change.

Going to the Gutach waterfall requires an entrance fee but to avoid that you can go before the ticket counter opens which is before 830am. The entrance is not locked and you can enter freely. The waterfall is awesome and you can sense its power upclose.

Next we went to the schwarzwald museum which is just next to the tourist information centre. Student prices only apply to those below 17 but we just told the ticket operator that we are students. Without checking our id, we are just charged 3 euros which is 2 euros off from the normal price. Yays! The museum is worth a visit as it tells you all about black forest's beginnings and history. The artifacts are very interesting as well.

Then we went to the House of 1000 clocks for some souvenirs. Met their mascot outside who gave me a 5 euros discount voucher. Woots! Black forest has its own fruit wines packaged exquisitely. There are also coffee and chocolate wines. Too bad they can't be brought back to Singapore. :(
Black forest cakes are a must try at schwarzwald. Those sold outside are not original and in fact totally different. We tried ours at cafe schäfer which touts itself as the most original. The cake is deliciously rich with cherries, liquor, fine cream and a base layer of biscotti.

To avoid reaching lyon late at night and repeating brussels' fear, we decided to leave early. I just feel sad that we are not able to visit the largest cuckoo clock in the world as we will need to walk about 1km to reach the eble clock park. Hope to have the chance to go back to schwarzwald to explore the other parts and trek.
