The highlight of todays driving was "The 17 Mile Drive at Pebble Beach, Monterey".
The crown jewel of the golf world, Pebble Beach first shimmered with the completion of the Pebble Beach championship golf course in 1918. The Monterey Peninsula Country Club and Cypress Point Golf Club soon followed, and more recently, Pebble Beach Resorts developed The Links at The Inn at Spanish Bay. Pebble Beach is certainly a resort for the wealthy.
The 17 mile drive is a spectacular meeting of land and sea, it includes the 200-300-year-old Lone Cypress Tree, legendary golf courses and excellent vista points (eg Ghost tree, restless sea and Point Joe). We planned on a picnic supper at Pebble Beach, but extortionate prices at the gourmet market in Pebble Beach put a stop to our plans (eg a sandwich costs $8.50). I don't think so. Further South on our coastal drive we purchase our picnic necessities and enjoy them with a fabulous sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
