Where I stayed
Day 27
Today was an investigation day. Because LA is high on our list of potential locations to live we connected with a local. Ok, well, he's only been a local for a few months, but he knows more than us. Andy Dickieson is a friend from KCC that just moved out here recently to give the film career in LA a whirl. Of course I have talked to Justin a number of times about LA as well, since him and Krista had been out here for a number years. Anyways, Andy was gracious enough to give us his day to show us some cool neighboorhoods. It actually worked out great, he had just moved into a house in Glendale, but he had lived in a number of areas and been looking for houses for the last couple months, so he knew quite a bit about the real estate and cities here. Glendale itself is pretty nice, but for us, we're looking for a neighborhood that is really walkable. So, the first stop was Echo Park. Then he took us through a number of cities in that area and on down to Dodgers stadium. It came up out of nowhere. We grabbed a couple pictures and then we headed over to Culver City. We walked around a bit there and then took a break. Andy and Ethan played frisbee awhile and then climbed a tree. Andy's a pretty good tree climber. I couldn't believe how fast he got up this one. Then we headed back through downtown LA and over to Pasadena. We really liked Pasadena a lot. The good part is that the trip is teaching us what to look for in an area. This can be tough when you want to eliminate as much suburbia as possible. But, I think we are starting to make sense of what needs to be within a few blocks of us to make it work. We finished up the night in downtown Burbank which is also a very cool place. I don't know, we'll see if it leads anywhere, but it was a lot of fun looking around and dreaming.
