Hello anyone who is still reading this!
This post is mainly for my own benefit as I do not like to leave loose ends untied. As most of you know, we're back in the states! We had a fantastic and relaxing last couple of days as we made our way back to Auckland and prepared for our long flight. We spent 12 hours in the air only to arrive in San Francisco with a 12 hour layover. Luckily, my step brother Rob was nearby and took us to hang out at his apartment to rest for a while until our flight later that night. We then had a 4 1/2 hour flight and arrived at Charlotte at 6am to be greeted by our sleepy parents and my sister. It's good to be home, but it hasn't quite sunk in yet that we're not in New Zealand. I find myself instinctively reaching for the dish soap and a cloth to wash my plates rather than to stick them in the dishwasher. Having a full closet of clothes feels a little unnatural at the moment. I'm sure things will be back to normal by tomorrow. Luckily, neither of us seems to be suffering too much from jet lag.
This trip was so gratifying in so many ways. It was extremely fulfilling to plan and execute a trip like this all on our own. We also both worked very hard to be able to go on the trip, and so that made it all the more enjoyable. We will always have extremely fond memories of New Zealand and our time there, and hopefully we will get to return to it some day.
Thank you to all our friends and family for supporting our going on this trip and for diligently keeping up with this blog!
Lots of love,
Addie and Allen
