I feel it's not so odd that people tend to forget about you once you leave the island.  I would like to think that’s because life there is a kind of community struggle, I mean, you’re all in the same boat, so to say.  In reality, almost everyone who does not live there full time comes there for a brief visit, they're called Snow Birds.  They usually have a wedding, or to take a break from day to day stresses of city life, and some just come down to make repairs on their real estate.  For the most part, when the Snow Birds leave they’re rarely thought about again until it's time for them to return.  Everyone who lives there full time sees them arrive and, in all actuality, merely expects them to leave again eventually.  No big deal.

Getting back to the whimsey of community struggle, those who live there full time are like crabs in a bucket trying to climb to the top of the pile of crabs, yet are still caught but not caring.  I’ve heard enough people say ‘good riddance’ after some full timer leaves and it’s made little difference if that person was a jeweler, an artist or painter, or a retired fire fighter!  Sometimes they say worse things which indicate to me they merely tolerated the person while that person was living here and were glad for their departure.

I’d like to do a big shout-out and say “HI!” to anyone who remembers me, cares at all, and reads this blog.

I didn’t take many pictures during my day to day life and that is disappointing, but most of the pictures I did have were either ruined by dampness, salt air and time, or simply not interesting nor good!  I know it’s been a long time coming but I finally found some digital pictures I can post!

I apologize for not posting pictures of the many good friends I made while living and working down there and I’m especially sad for the few good friends I’ve lost.  Although their mannerisms and names are solidly implanted in my mind, it would have been nice to post their likenesses.

Since I haven’t spoken with many of my living friends it i safe to say that in all fairness they might not want it known that they know me!  I can respect that opinion.  So, without further ado, let me tell you about each photo.

I have so many stories to tell which happened during my years of living on that island. Stories of weather, friends, fights at the beach bar, playing my guitar on the beach at night and singing, eating and listening to the entertainment at Honey Moon Beach and Pirate's Ridge deli, meeting the many and varied visitors, but I do not wish to bore you! So, come on down, the water's fine!
