Day 1 -   Parque Jose Marti, Paseo de Prado, Punta Gorda, Town
Had an extra early start for the Bus to Cienfuegos. Along the way we stopped off at some ranch that had souvineers, food and some animals. As can be seen in the photos one of them looked like a hampster on steroids.

Once again was swamped by people trying to get you to stay at their casa but once again decided to use the guide book to find a place. Unfortunately the place I choose had no rooms though the guy did take me to another place owned by his friend. While the house didnt seem as great it did have a nice family in it. Also the building was a couple of stories high so had a bit of a view of the surrounding neighbourhood.

After checking in went and got a bus tiket for the next day before wandering through the streets to the central square Parque Jose Marti where I visited the old style theatre. Unfortunatley only got a couple of photos inside the theatre before my camera battery died.

Headed back to the casa for a new battery the wandered down Paseo de Prado which had lots of old building around the place and locals wandering around. Kept following the road over a small causeway to Punta Gorda which provided a view into the bay as well as a morrocsan stlye building.

Started to get dark around now so headed back to town where I found a cheap and not so tasty meal before heading back to the casa.

Guess one of the things about Casas is that they normally only have one or two rooms so its highly likely that they could be full. Another is the fact that since its a family home, there is no guarantee someone will be home when you come knocking on the door. Without having someone making a reservation for you its probably your best option to go with someone who meets the bus your on even though you cant always be sure what you'll get. While you cant be sure what you will likely end up getting a good price.

Had talked with the guy at the first hostel about staying with someone he knew in Trinidad and decided to take him up on the offer. Besides the family he had sent me to were extremely nice if if their home wasnt quite as nice as the first place I went to.

Headed over to visit the guy where I had a nice arabian coffee and got the details for the casa in Trinidad. Also listened to him talk about his plans (in the little english he had) for setting up a hostel. Seems he must be doing well given he bought the property next door and had a 3 storey building which he was renarvating to make the hostel.

Day 2 - Wander Around Town
Had a nice breakfast of bread, eggs coffee and juice. Definately like the coffee in cuba. Has a nice strong rich flavour.

Bus wasnt till after lunch so wandered aimlessly around town for a bit. Place is a bit rundown and while the center of town has a lot of historical buildings you find that the buildings get lesst grand and more run down the further out of the center you get. Also saw lots of horse drawn carraiges around the place which seem to be the local taxis service for the place.

Lots of people around doing their daily business. Even came across a group of guys playing dominos out on the street. Seems to me that this is a popular game with some people tryimg to make it more exciting by slamming there domino down real hard when its there turn as if saying Hah, here you take, take this.

Also saw a couple of buses and other russian styled vehicles. Got to stay that the buses, trucks, cars and other russian vehicles certainly have some very different and funky designs compared to their western counterparts.

Really not much to do since I had pretty much covered most of the town the day before. Looking back, probably should have caught the earlier bus out of town and spent more of the day in Trinidad. Alternatively found a tour operator and it seems it would have been a good idea to have taken a half day day trip out to some nearby waterfalls. They looked pretty cool from the photos I saw but unfortunately it was a bit to late to book it
