Seattle
Decided I didnt have time and it would be to much of a hassle organising transport for a hike in Mt rainier so decided to just do a day tour instead. Given the weather I ended up having this was probably a good.

Got back to seattle from Olympic NP and decided to try a hostel that was closer to the bus station since I didnt want to go to the green totoise (which I liked better) and not find a bed. Ended up getting the last bed in the place and since I procrasinated about booking my flight to San Francisco ended up having to book it for Wednesday rather even though I was heading out to Mt Rainier on Monday and could of taken a flight on Tuesday.

Found out later that I could have found a bed at teh Green Tortoise and that the reason I didnt the last time I was in town (luckily) was due to the Hemp fair being on in Seattle on that weekend.

On the Sunday headed out to REI once more to ge some more gear and on the way back decided to stop off at a mixed martial arts dojo that was having a basics class. First hour was basically some calastenic follwed by yoga. Was suprise how flexible I was (must be loose after warming up) even though I havent done it in a while.

Hard part for me has always been getting my body to warm up but that didnt seem to be a problem that day. This was first hour was then followed by 45min of karate basics that were similar to my own. Instructor wasnt to bad and it was nice to do a bit of karate after such a long time.

Mt Rainier tour
As always lots of driving and the tour felt rushed. But at least I got to go out to the mountain. Started off at the box canyon and the nearby forest. On the way there stopped for a view of Mt Rainier but could only see the bottom of it since the top was completely covered in cloud.

Not sure what hike I would have done if I had the opportunity. Guess its either spend 10-12 days hiking around the base or head up one or two of the trails that get up towrds the ice near the top. Unfortunately need climbing gear to get past ice and reach top and if spent the whole time with the mountain in cloud neither hike would be much fun.

Next headed to the visitor center where we had about 4 hours of free time. Decided to rush my way through a 4 mile hike up the nearby mountain trail past a glacier and up towards the mountain. Clouds cleared a bit so I could see the glaciers near the base of teh mountain but not the mountain itself. Ended up making it back for the bus with just a little bit of time to spare.

Final stop of the bus after the free time was to a grove of old wood forest. Some nice trees here suggesting the the walk around the mountain would make a nice walk through the forest. Only question is whether you get any mountain views as well. In any case the model in the visitor ceter suggested that going round the mountain would also involve a lot of up and down.

Seattle
Wandered around town a bit on Tuesday and Wednesday before my flight but really didnt get up to much. Giving my body a bit of a chance to recover before the next hike.
