S: With only a quick stop over, we left Santa Clara and went to the bus stop so that we could continue on to Trinidad – this is where we were meeting up with the boys again for New Years. After a 2 hour wait at the bus stop, we had a 3 hour trip to Trinidad. Surprisingly it went quite quickly as we both dozed off to sleep for a little while. When we pulled into the bus terminal we saw a row of Cuban people standing outside holding up signs with pictures of Casa Particulars that were available for rent. Amongst these signs was another sign saying "Aaron & Stefane" That was us!! The owner of our Casa Particular was so nice and it was only a short walk to his place. Lucky for us cause our back packs are so heavy and the roads are all cobble stones so it's quite hard to walk on without tripping up!  Our room was a separate upstairs area with bathroom, private patio with a cute little table and chairs. Very romantic! We love it and are staying here for 4 nights. Once settled into our room we decided to check out the main plaza area. This place is beautiful, apart from the homeless skinny dogs that wonder the streets in search of food. One dog in particular brought me to tears. It was literally skin and bones. It looked diseased as all its hair was pretty much gone and its skin was also flaky and bleeding. It broke my heart seeing it in such a terrible condition, the RSPCA would go wild if they saw all these animals. Its nots just dogs though, Horses too are very skinny and in bad condition but they continue to use them to carriage people around.

We had a walk through a war Museum then went and sat on the main plaza stairs and listened to a live Cuban band play some cool music. Why we were sitting there we spotted the boys walking around so we went and met up with them (Very lucky, as we do not have mobile phones so zero means of communication. We had to hope for the off chance of us running into each other). Later on we had dinner back at our Casa and it was delicious, our hosts had really outdone themselves.

We went and met up with the boys later that night, their tour guide had told them that he would take us all to a good bar. Well that didn’t happen, instead he took us to a afro-cuban theatre show. It was crap and after 30 mins of sitting there watching the boring dancing, Adam and I bailed and went home. We have a big day tomorrow, NYE!!!
