Prague was SICK. It was a bit of a whirlwind tour but it rocked.
After an early night and dinner on Saturday we got up early today. We had breakfast at the hostel, (very quaint, top of the hill near the castle, 16 bed!) and strolled down to Old Town Square to do the Free Walking Tour. I was REALLY looking forward to not spending a day walking round with a map.
The walking tour was awesome! Our guide was really enthusiastic and a good laugh and it's a great way of doing everything quickly and concisely. We started at the square where they have a big astronomical clock
- ill be honest that it gets to the point where how ever awesome the architecture is, it's pretty boring to write about. But I'm trying to force myself to as I'll appreciate it looking back! -
So we head round the old gothic churches, learnt about the history of Czechoslovakia etc. and through Old Town and New Town. The Jewish quarter was cool as was Wenceslas square. Prague is really cheap which is good, but we ended up spending more than expected.
After the tour I had a massive YOLO moment and crossed something off the bucket list! BUT I can't reveal what I did until the end of the tour! So you avid readers will have to wait with baited breath!
Post-top-secret-bucket-list-thing, we got some dinner in Old Town Square. They have small market stalls doing hog roasts etc so I had Staroprażsa šunka and Halušky, which is basically Ham and Potato and Cabbage. It was delicious, but I got robbed. The price was RIDICULOUS which they disguise with advertising prices per measurement not by what they give you
We head back to the hostel to freshen up as tonight we were heading to Prague Ice bar and on the pub crawl! Wooooooopah.
The ice bar was awesome. Your glasses are made of ice and there's like cool cocktails included in the 7 quid admission which is good. Then we headed to the pub crawl. We thought it would be mega awkward as it was just Hollie and I and we wanted to make it clear we were just friends. When we got in we spotted these 2 girls also sat at the side but headed to the bar. I had a shot of bohemian absinthe in Prague - bucket list. And maybe a shot at 2 other bars as well. When in Prague.., (for those that are like - big deal? - I don't drink.) Then we headed to the two girls and started chatting. They were Aussies from Melbourne called Georgia and Amy. ...Yes they were, and no I didn't.
We ended up spending most of the night with them. We did 3 pub/clubs till like 12 (I starts at had 8 which is mega early) By the 3rd club I was literally having the best night of my life, the DJs were SICK. Like phenomenal. And the atmosphere - incredible
...it was sh-...appalling. For those Cheshire people imagine like Winnington or Crewe bowling alley with neon figures on the walls, it stinking like sick and with awful music. Oh and each dance floor having a balcony of weird old men and mature couples going at in booths. For non Cheshire people just think of like the under 16 nights you went to etc. Biggest disappointment ever.
So about half 1/2 ish, fully aware we were up in 3 hours for our train to Vienna we headed home. I say fully aware, Hollie was maybe...less aware!
Awful club aside, we met tons of awesome people and the first few hours were amazing. It makes us massively regret not going out in Berlin.
Oh well I'll have to go back.
Now to Vienna. Hollie only has 2 night and 3 days left
