I had been looking forward to Mt. Cook for most of the South Island. The unfortunate thing for us was that when we got there it was absolutely tipping it down and blowing gale force winds! Still we figured as we had come all this way we might as well still go out for a walk. We did a 4 hour hike in the windiest and wettest conditions ever! It was still cool though. Although we were absolutely soaking and freezing by the time we had finished. The worst part was we couldn't do the walks we wanted because it would have been too dangerous and also you couldn't really see Mt. Cook which was the main reason we had made the trip there. Also, the day we left, by the time we were about 30km from Mt Cook we looked back to see that the weather had cleared and Mt Cook was clearly visible again.
