Oh the people we meet. Remember to be nice to people you meet!  Adam met Dino approx 5 years ago when they were in Ireland together for work and he remembered that Dino was from Marathon.  Luckily, Marathon is a small town and it didn't take long to track him down and make a phone call to see if he knew of anyone going into Thunder Bay in the next day or so.  Well, he said that his wife, Dianne, was able to take us!  Wow, I don't know how you thank someone for driving you 300km somewhere and then 300km back.  It's incredible.  Thank you.

Adam had called Cycle Path in Thunder Bay (at the suggestion of other cyclists recommending Cycle Path) and we found out that it was not going to be possible to have rims shipped out.  It actually made our decision a little easier:  risk trying to bike in or try and find a ride.  When the ride appeared, we decided to take it and are we ever glad.  Once we got to Cycle Path we did ask if our bikes could have made it.  It was a really difficult decision for us to make as we didn't know if were cheating on this trip by taking the ride, etc.  But, we figured for potential safety that 300km out of 7000km isn't that bad.  PLUS, we know in our hearts we could physically do it and, as it turns out, we've actually done the hilliest part (between Soo & Wawa).  It got fairly flat again after Nipigon and the hills we'd conquered already looked bigger & steeper than what we saw today.  So, after asking, he told us that Adam probably could have limped his way in but there was very little chance my tire would have survived.  He could pull the spoke out with one hand.  All in all, a good decision.

And now we're at the Travelodge and our bikes should be ready for tomorrow afternoon and we'll be on the road again!

Oh, and so you know, we've done over 3600km in total (no, not counting the drive).

Incredible - 3600 kms! You must be pretty close to half way, if not past that point! You guys are doing awesome, especially given the weather you've had,. Keep up the good work and keep smiling.
Safe cycling to you all!

Oh what a good decision you made...missing 300km is so small compared to what you have already done and are still doing...so good for you for taking the ride into Thunder Bay...and again I am overwhelmed at all the nice people you have met on this trip...these are the people we should here about in the nightly news!!!
And thank you again for being so diligent about posting your whereabouts...we love reading it and we worry less (in the we I am including your moms...) Rest up while you have the chance and have fun in Winnipeg!!!

Hey! I met the Waynes yesterday who diagnosed your wheel taco. They said there was no way Tara's bike would have made it so you made the right call. When I was at Velorution a couple came in who'd had to bus it from White River because his tyre had blown out so you're not the only ones getting a ride.
