But SOOOOO worth coming out here. Flores is a lush tropical paradise. Volcanic, hilly with hundreds of landslides,uninhabited beaches and jungle villages. Of course that isnt Maumere. This place is a dump! A working town of thrown together houses and shops. Maumere was utterly destroyed in 1992 by an earthquake and tidalwave! so everything here is new and pretty danm ugly! We bummed around for 2 days recovering from the frantic last week of continuous travelling, but took no pics...if you ever come to the place you will see why! :D
