Well the weather was supposed to be in the high 20's today so was the first real opportunity to drive with the roof down. It was going to be a 350 mile drive down to Morehead City in North Carolina. So after my usual donughts for breakfast and a large ice coffee to take a way i set off... As soon as u get out of Alexandria it is just wonderful scenic roads. Not the bleak , dull motorways we have back at home that have the complementary shoe or trousers left at the side of the road. No rubbish at all. Well except for a lot of road kill.At home with suicidal squirrels , here they have suicidal beavers and raccoons. And looking at the blood spray across the road it must of caused some damage to the cars they hit.

By midday the temp had hit the high 20's but i was not feeling it as the cool air was making it pleasant to drive. OH what a mistake. When i stopped for lunch i could just see the start of my arms going red. No worries i thought only a few more hours and a bit of after sun would do the trick. I gave the kids a call and the first thing Gracie asked me, and in typical fashion of any women , she asked me if i had brought her the Lelly Kelly shoes she asked for. Must get that from her mum. The other two were OK. Asking me bout the drive and what had i seen. Still in the background you could here motormouth asking for her shoes. God help the poor bloke that marries her. As it was lunchtime i decided to breakaway from my usual McDonald's and go for a Wendy's.I know not much difference. This is where i experienced the BACONATOR!!!!! A burger crammed with cheese, onions, burgers and and loads of bacon. WOW!! just glad i am not Jewish. So after satisfying my need for fast food i went on my merry way for the last few hours to Morehead City.

Along the way i have noticed allot of names of rivers. At home we have the Thames or the Avon etc. Here they have names like Beaver dam Swamp or Old mans Creek. That is what we are missing back home. Real names not boring ones. We need more swamps back at home. The closest we get to a swamp is a muddy field in April. Can u imagine living next to the Old Thames swamp or Torrent Trent creek. Will just give them a bit of an edge..

I got here bout 4pm and just looked like a typical American town. Lots of traffic lights, fast food outlets and car sale lots. It must be compulsory for every American to have 3 cars one of which has to be a 4x4.. So i checked into my hotel, which was allot better than the previous one and all the staff spoke English. Good start. But then i looked into the mirror in my room. I looked like a giant tomato without the green hair. 7 hrs driving in that heat had sent me bright red.. I just forgot bout it with the nice breeze i had i can still burn.So typically English. Well after a cool shower i needed to get some bits and bobs so i went looking for a Wall-Mart.

Now being a bit of a Tesco freak, i like to look around them back home, i hoped Wall-mart could live up to Tesco's high standards. God this place was amazing. It made Tesco's look like a corner shop.It was like a giant Aladdin's cave. I was in heaven. I spent 2 hrs marveling at its array or bargains and choice of stuff. But all i brought was a MP3 player and a battery charger. I think i was just in shock by its size and could not appreciate the marvel of this huge church of shopping. So now i am going to try and visit a Wall-Mart in every town i visit. Sad i know but we all have or little quirks.

Well after getting something to eat i headed back to the hotel to play with my new toy and get ready for the next day. Glad i put the after sun in a bucket of ice cause by now i was as hot as a jet engine and bright as a red traffic light. Also for you all following my poo story i had no problems flushing todays but i have noticed a change in texture.Only by sight not by touch or smell.Must be something to do with my diet of burgers, chips and root beer.Oh and the 30 fags i am smoking a day.
