Even though Sukhumvit area caters a lot to these old white men and their fantasies, it also hosts some tasty restaurants, and some huge shopping complexes. On the first night, we had dinner at this place called Cabbage&Condoms. The owner named it such to raise funds for the most impacting family planning agency in thailand. We would later spend our last night at this same establishment with our friends Frank, Kricket, Gonzalo, and Paulina.

We met Gonzalo and Paulina on our second dinner outing. As we were paying the bill I couldn't help but notice the familiar accent that was coming from behind us. I recognized it, and approached the couple by asking them if they were Chileans. Sure enough they were, and were living in Thailand for the next year. Gonzalo is an ex chilean air force captain and flies commercial 767. He and his wife were incredibly generous throughout the week, starting with an invitation to their luxurious apartment pool. I'm sure Adrienne was looking forward to a day at this pool, but probably wasn't thrilled that our Chilean friends spoke in Spanish most of the time... Our chilled Sauvignon Blanc was well received by an intriguing crew sitting at this 4th floor outdoor pool. The day became even more memorable when we met Frank and Kricket because their relaxing sense of humor was very much appreciated by Adrienne while I spoke with the south americans.

We received a wealth of information from these wonderful people, and we followed up on many of their recommendations, including: Jim Thompson House, MBK super mall, Chattuchuck Flee Market, and the sex show place.

Frank "the tank" gave us the low down on the sex show after he had spent an evening there. With Kricket making disgusting faces, and rolling her eyes we decided to check it out for ourselves. A very rundown place is where the tuk tuk dropped us off. we knew we had the right place when a bunch of Indian men came walking out and told us that the show was inside. So after forking out the 20 bucks for our entrance we stepped inside and found the smoking lounge at the airport sitting inside. Men and women from all over were here checking out the ladies perform some amazing stunts with their vaginas. After the first drink we got the picture and decided we didn't need to hang out any longer and left. This tourist attraction spurned some serious discussion between us that lasted through our overnight train journey to Chiang Mai, and ceased with the glorious window plane arrival into Mae Hong Son.
