Firstly, plans have changed (as they always do). I am no longer going to Rurrenabaque - although the tours are the cheapest in South America, I can't afford it right now and it's probably best left for another time. I have realised I will never have enough time or money to see this vast continent, so it's best if I spend a few more days in La Paz. Regardless, there's enough to keep me entertained there.

Today, however, I am writing this with blood replaced by adrenaline. Carlos, Matt and I paid 50 for approximately 3 hours of downhill cycling: down the fittingly named Death Road. The road starts at La Cumbre approximately 4700m above sea level, and plummets down to Coroico, 1500m lower. There are 500-800m drops round the corners; slippery mud tracks, thin air and nerves definitely mean it isn't an easy ride - but any sensible, competent rider would be fine.

The buffet lunch and swimming pool at the hotel provided a well deserved break from the downhill ride. We eventually got back to La Paz by 8PM and I was (un)lucky enough to get a room at the same hostel.
