As the bus entered the highest capital in the world, I was happy to be in a city - the fast pace, crowds and traffic are actually a welcome change from the mellow town of Copacabana.

At a first glance, the best word to describe La Paz is probably dodgy. Uniformed police officers can be seen throughout the city, but the dried llama foetuses or even the shoe shiners wearing ski masks are a part of quirky (and slightly scary) La Paz. We went to the witches market today and it really is a culture shock. Up to now, honestly, I haven't really been shocked, but this was very, very weird.

I am staying in Wild Rover hostel for the next few days, and I can't exactly say I am looking forward to it. I would move, but some of Matt's friends are staying here and we want to travel together to Uyuni. This is another party hostel though, filled with people that have little time and a lot of money - I am tired of hearing stories of drunken 20 something travellers stumbling in at sunrise. At the moment it seems though I'll be here for just two more days as I plan on going to the jungle for a Pampas tour.
