Had a fantastic day today. We set off early towards Cable Bay north of Nelson for a morning of quad biking. I'd never driven a quad bike before and have to admit was completely useless as I drove it like a complete girl (I'm not fearless enough!) but still loved it and would go again - we were driving along tracks through forests and hills to a supposedly great view at the top which unfortunately failed to materialise due to the thick cloud all around (yes, first cloudy day here since the day we arrived when it rained). Part way round on the quad bikes we stopped to go on a skywire: a little like a chair lift you'd find when skiing suspended several hundred metres above the forest on a wire which you go hurtling along part way (ie the downhill bits) and slightly more sedately for the rest (ie the uphill bits). It was great fun and more great views (despite the cloud).
This afternoon we headed on to Richmond near Nelson and once again headed out to a few wineries in the Nelson region. We found our winery of the trip to date: Greenhough winery. Absolutely fantastic - we liked every wine we tried there and bought more there than at any other winery we've been to.
