We had a very chatty driver on the way down the mountain.  I talked with him practically the whole way! He drove us back to San Jose from Monteverde, averting the huge traffic jam on the highway by taking us on the old highway.  Apparently there are festivals that begin on Friday afternoons and into Saturday, so the highway from San Jose is very busy with people traveling home.

The secondary highway was very beautiful with many farms and fruit stands along the way.  After arriving back into San Jose, we hit the Walmart next door to pick up laundry detergent and bread and cheese for our supper.  The following day we say adios to grandma and continue our journey into Ecuador.
