Day 174 June 26 continued to day 179 July 1 - I concluded my trip back in New York City. It seems crazy that 174 days ago I was sneaking out of Josh and Di's apartment near Washington Heights and making my way to JFK to catch my flight to Quito.

I arrived into New York City around the time the Gay Pride Parade was in full swing. I was heading from Port Authority bus station to the upper east side to see my friend Cheryl. Amazing scenes I saw on the subway, majority of amazing scenes were guys dressed in very little supporting a banana hammock with rainbow colours. Very amusing. Of course, leading up to the parade, the same sex marriage law was approved for the state of New York.

I spent my first next at Cheryl apartment, catching up and having some Thai food.

Next day I snuck out early and met Di on 164th street to grab my key, say hello to little Penny (no more whispering into dogs ears anymore) and we went for coffee. Later that day, we met for dinner, while I relaxed watching some tennis and catching up on some emails. Pretty uneventful stuff.

Over the course of the next few days, we watched some cool movies, The Kings Speech, Knight and Day and Unknown. I was treated, again, like a King and was fed and beered by my generous hosts.

Di and I even popped out to get frozen yogurt, she didn't let on that this was also a delicious cake shop and was also in the film 'You've Got Mail'. Needless to say, it took Di 5 minutes to twist my arm and go for a banana and strawberry cake. At first I wasn't aware it mainly contained cream. I forget who ate more, but it was delicious!

I met my friend Christina at Schnippers and she kindly treated me to lunch. It was great to catch up and hear about all her good news. She had recently been on a trip to Wisconsin and Minnesota and has an upcoming trip to Sicily to see where her family came from. Again, it felt weird knowing that we had just hung out after Christmas and some 6 months later, I've travelled almost 45000kms and we're hanging out again. Was great to see you!
Di and Josh were also playing cupid one night, inviting mutual friends to meet up and see if they hit it off. I was asked to talk less....haha, and I complied but I don't think they hit it off.

I got to catch up with my former work colleague and good friend Lauren. She got engaged after Christmas and I got to hear the low down on the wedding and all her recent gossip. We only see each once a year, but nothing changes and we just end up gossiping like usual. She still does her film Premiers, gets to meet all the stars but thinks nothing of it. It was awesome to see her, if only briefly as she is a very busy lady with a wedding to plan!!
I also went to Long Island to see my friend Stephanie, who had recently bought a new apartment, We hung out at a place called The Library. You know, where are you off to tonight, oh, just the library. There's also a bar called the Post Office. It was also great to see Stephanie, see her new pad and catch up.
Before too long, Friday morning was upon me and it was time to pack yet again and say goodbye to Josh, Di and Penny. It was so good seeing all three again. They told me about a week they have planned in North Carolina, and I so wish I could go!!
Thank you for looking after me and I can't wait to see you again soon!!

Yes, yes, when I have fun I don't take pictures. For once, I did not wander around NYC like I usually do, I just relaxed and enjoyed good company.

I was back at Port Authority bus station on the Friday, to hop on a bus to Boston.

Ginge! Was so great to see you! Thanks for heading over to the smelly neighborhood of Port Authority to meet me for lunch :) Hope Boston was good and looking forward to the next time our paths cross!
