Where I stayed
Jumping off the bus, around ten guys offer me a taxi, but seeing as the hostel is a five minute walk away, I'll stick to walking thanks! The town is hot just like Canas, it's super hot.
The Hostel is pretty easy to find, the owner does a deal on a single room and the toilet is very close to where my pillow will be, sweet. The hostel has a TV right in the courtyard and the owner sticks on the Chelsea v Man U Champions League game. Rooney has just scored and I sit and watch the rest of the game. Just before half time a young couple walk by, the guy stops, talks to his girlfriend, she walks off and he comes to sit next to me. His name is Jacob and is from Switzerland. We chat briefly but in all honesty I'm more interested in the game, although I do ask him about his local town and Lichtenstein. He's a Young Boys supporter (football club in Switzerland). Games ends well and I head out to explore another hot, dusty and dry city.
I'm staying near an open Plaza where children are practicing somersaults and handstands. I find a bench to sit and people watch for a while.
After I wander around some more before as usual I head for a siesta. I didn't wake again, I wasn't hungry when I woke at 9pm and seeing as I was enjoying a good sleep, I brush my teeth and just go to bed. I don't want to just eat for the sake of it and go to sleep on a heavy stomach.
Although this day has been fairly quiet, it's these sort of days when I can catch up on myself, feel more organised and more rested.

Day 93 April 7th - I wake around 8am and I lay there. I know today is going to be a busy day. I am planning on heading to Nicaragua and Isla de Ometepe. The journey is not straight forward and will involve a few changes. Instead of heading out early, I decide to go find some breakfast. I enjoy orange juice, coffee and some scrambled eggs. To delay my departure I wander around the town some more and then try organise some more of my USA trip as well.
It's just before 11am when I grab my bags and walk to the bus stop. I catch the bus in time. This bus is heading for the border of Penas Blancas. We reach the border within 90 minutes and join the line for the exit stamp of Costa Rica. I exchange some Costa Rican for Nicaragua currency then once I have my stamp, pay a dollar for a golf buggy ride to the entry immigration office of Nicaragua. It's a hot day so figure not to exert myself too much. It's here I make a school boy error, the lonely planet advises on bringing US Dollar for the entry tax, seeing as I only have THEIR local currency, they charge me double the entry fee and I don't have enough! He keeps my passport while I go find an ATM. Luckily there is one! An old lady helps me find the bus to Rivas (Rivas is near the dock for the ferry to Isla de Ometepe) and it's a crazy crowded bus station. They check your passport before entering and you pay another tax of a Dollar. Just love taxing those gringos. I can only define the bus I caught to Rivas as a Reggae bus. I sat near the front but it had black out windows, lights all over it, a flat screen TV at the front playing local MTV with some pretty racey videos as well!! The guys cheer each new song and some hottie than appears on the screen. It's an experience but I'm glad when we reach Rivas within 35 minutes. A $2 taxi ride later and I'm jogging to make the ferry and guess what I just make it on time, well, the delay was for the tourist tax I had to pay! I made the 230pm ferry so not bad 3.5 hours from leaving Liberia to boarding the Ferry to Ometepe.
