Where I stayed
Standing in the line at the bank
So yesterday I managed to get out of it. Today, however, "Diane" (my fellow student whose name I changed to protect her identity.) pressured me into riding the bus downtown.
So… I am selectively social.
Nicety…if you will.
While I am always down to do interesting things, I hate being pressured. I also hate when folks take it upon themselves to plan my time. I decided to be accommodating today. I am working on that part of me that is judgmental and ridiculous…sort of. But then there are people (like “Diane”) who make things hard.
“Diane” is 53…nice.
Army green not-quite-capris and rock-climbing sandals…nicer
Mullet and Ray-ban reflective sunglasses…nicest
Impatient, consistently hungry, bossy and starkly American…added bonus.
I did not have any local currency so I had to go to the bank. The system was down. No big deal. I was in no rush. I was listening to the local folks laugh and talk. I watched the cutest little girl drift off to sleep in her mother's arms. “Diane” was impatient.
“We could have been on the bus by now. Isn’t there another bank we could have gone to?” yatta, yatta, yatta. In my head I kept thinking, what the heck is the hurry? We have no place to be and nothing to do. This excursion that you planned has no set agenda and there is no reason to rush. Eventually she said that she was hungry and she went off to find something to eat.
Good.
I was hoping that she would get some shut up juice to go with that leave-me-the-hell-alone sandwich.
