Saturday morning we went into Auckland early…I had booked a session with a Maori tattoo artist who had drawn me out a personal 'life story' tattoo that would be my half sleeve before the England vs Scotland game in the evening.

Four and a half hours of pain, apparently tattoos here hurt A LOT more than English tattoos, glad I was aware! But I have to say he drew the whole thing on to my arm from scratch, filling in/ re-drawing and editing where he liked and where he thought it looked best. Even having it drawn out looked good :D

After he was done, I was happy as Larry! :D a quick bus ride to Eden park, a few drinks in a local sushi bar (shortest queue) and into the stadium we went! As you imagine, both crowds were up for it, both shouting, singing and jeering the other; God I hoped England put these guys away!!

As it may have been in a few English homes…I sat silently for 77 minutes, along with the rest of the English crowd it seemed. I felt little apart from embarrassment, and truly didn’t enjoy the try we made with 2 minutes to go. It sadly was not deserved and I pray it’s not a sign of how England’s game will be going from now on…
