What a lovely time we had in the Le Marche region of Italy celebrating with Blair and Rosie and their family and friends.

We journeyed to Montegiorgio from Rome. First off a 3hr train to Ancona, then an hours wait and then a regional train to Porto San Giorgio where our private transfer picked us up and took us to our accommodation not far from the Villa where Rosie & Blair and their families were staying. Montegiorgio is a very small little town and we were starving for some lunch after our travels. Luckily we found the one place serving food in the town still open during the late afternoon and devoured a delicious pizza. The hotel had a swimming pool so we spent our first afternoon reading by the pool and using google translate A LOT to converse with the hotel staff.

The next morning Shaun and Aunty Liz picked us up from our hotel and took us back to the villa. It was great to meet Rosie's family and some of her and Blair's friends from overseas. The villa was just gorgeous with a beautiful view of the country side and fields of sunflowers spread out in the fields below. We caught up with everyone and their travels so far and played lots of volleyball in the villa swimming pool. Rosie's brother cooked everyone an amazing pasta lunch and we all sat together at a huge long outdoor table to eat. Sitting on the upstairs terrace of the villa we helped to put together some decorations for the wedding the next day .

That evening everyone going to the wedding met up at a pizza restaurant in the small town of Grottazzolina. The pizza was amazing and just kept coming with so many different flavours. Definitely the best pizza I've had in Italy. With lots of us being teachers and having gone through teachers college the same time as Blair there were quite a few people I knew or had mutual friends with so it was nice to catch up with others and meet some new people too.

The next day was the wedding day. We met everyone at the villa and then we all boarded a bus to Petritoli for the wedding ceremony. Overlooking the rolling hills of the Le Marche region on a nice grassy courtyard area outside the town hall it was the perfect setting. It was incredibly hot outside but luckily there was a nice shaded area to sit for the ceremony. The ceremony was in both Italian and English, kindly translated for the majority of us who didn't speak Italian. After the ceremony we headed back on the bus to the villa for the reception. In true Italian style we were treated to a delicious 9 course meal including Pizza, Pasta, delicious breads and cheeses, sorbets, roast pork and even 2 cakes for dessert. The food just kept on coming and just when you thought you couldn't eat anymore there was another delicious course to eat. There were some great speeches and lots of laughs. The setting for the reception was so unique and I loved the way there was so much space for everyone to move around and to chat with different people throughout the night. It's not often you go to a wedding and get to see people you didn't know before multiple days throughout the celebration.

Rosie and Blair organised an absolutely amazing time for all their guests and we were so glad we got to be a part of it and share this special day with them and some of our great friends.
