We spent 2 nights in Bath - every moment was worth it. Bath is absolutley beautiful. While waiting for,  what turned out to be the wrong, bus we got talking to a lovely old lady on her way to her weekly swim. She explained a few things about Bath. The roads are narrow and cannot not cope with the traffic and it can get very hot! Which we found out. She also explained it was set amongst four hills. Being founded by Romans it reminded them of home. This is one reason why it gets so hot.

Finally finding the right bus we made our way to our accommodation at the University of Bath. We also found out there is another University in Bath - Bath Spa University. Useless piece of info there. It was out of term time at the University so it was quiet and relaxing. Only a 5 minute ride out of town it was one of the best places we have stayed. Cheap too. We spent around 2 hrs relaxing on the grass near a large pond under a big tree. Eating lunch and reading. Martin said he had his first experience of being a uni student. Well this was better than the Uni I remember (Canterbury). My halls were no where near as nice as this!

Our first afternoon in Bath was spent exploring the Roman Baths. Wow. Not only are there actual Roman baths to see (kind of like Hanmer Springs but older) but there is a museum of Roman arterfacts which were found at that site. We spent over 2 hours here and were not disappointed.

That night we went on the Bizarre Bath comedy tour. Not a history tour - but a comedy tour - of Bath. Very funny.

The next day we spent relaxing and exploring. Martin had a tour of the Old Theatre Royal and Masonic Museum. He was even approached about being a Mason. Haha. I spent that time keeping out of the stinking hot sun and made my wish list of wants if we have shopping money at the end of this trip!

Instead of going out for dinner that night we paid £1 each to enter a private garden which sits alongside the River Avon and had a picnic. Beautiful gardens, tranquil setting and free white and blue striped deck chairs!

That night we stayed in town people watching. We sat outside the Roman Baths and got to see the whose who of Bath enter for a wedding reception...ohhh la la.

Bath was simply stunning, simply sensational. So worth a visit and so worth strolling the streets to get lost and find your way.

We were sad to leave Bath but happy to continue our jouney!
