Woke at 7.45, shower, ate onigidi/ OJ and yoghurt. 8.05 went downstairs and met group. Rode train (luggage in locker) from Hiroshima-> Miyajima station (walked to ferry). Went to Miyajima island (shima or jima is island). Passed 'torii' gate (red gates that let good spirits in and send bad spirits out). Hired bikes, Jim and me explored small island. Took cable car to top of island's mountain. Many 'saru' (monkeys) and on the island many deer. Great look out over island, and to the mainland and city. Left on ferry, bought lunch from a 7-11 (egg sandwich and a coke- only western meal bought so far!). Rode train and then tram to Hiroshima peace park. Went to museum, read and looked at as much as possible-> very sad. Time went very quickly. Went and saw the Sadako statue (Sadako was injured by the nuclear bomb blast, was in hospital dying, tried to make 1000 paper cranes, didn't make it, many people sent cranes in and still do. My school brought 1000 over.). Went to A-dome (was an industrial building). Only building that they have kept in near original condition to what happened from bomb blast. Went back to tram station (next to Hiroshima carp baseball stadium- Eiichi's favourite team). Went to Hiroshima station, collected luggage, took Shinkansen to Kyoto, went to hotel. Went to shopping complex, met Ayano (23 yo) (student teacher from last year). Ate dinner (rice and beef). Went to Lawsons (nearby convenience store). Bought jam role, yoghurt and OJ for breakfast tomorrow. Ayano is staying at our hotel (she lives nearby (20 min by train)). Went to room, counted remaining money and went to sleep at about 11.30.
