Hello comrades. Got here yesterday morning, the train was really punctual & arrived like to the minute (I am sad I know!). They gave everyone a little shoebox filled with treats (pleasing Beth greatly). Was weird sleeping on a train and the couple we shared with stayed up well late drinking beers (no stopping those Russians!). Also, train toilet was grim and smelled so strongly of wee that it made you gag, legend.
Got into Moscow and headed towards the hostel, the Metro here is a million times easier to use that the one in St Petes and we found the hostel easily, although we kind of wish we hadn't! The place is packed to the rafters with geeks and old people and families and weirdos who seem to live here, including one who looks like Barry from Eastenders, the atmohsphere isn't as good here but the city more than makes up for it!
Spent today and yesterday wandering around town, have seen Red Sqaure with Lenin's tomb (we'll see him tomorrow), the state department store, which is like Lakeside crossed with Buckingham Palace and the Kremlin. We chose the cheapskate option to see the Kremlin and only saw the exhibition in one of the churches but it was filled with such random stuff that we were kind of happy not to have raped the budget for the rest of it! Also, as you do, we got our picture taken with Lenin and Stalin (they're a lot nicer than history would have you believe). Gonna go Russian tonight and get pissed in a park, speak to you all soon!

Also, yesterday we went to a tourist market and Aaron finally got his Russian hat, happy days!

Tues 25th July
Your happy faces are a joy to behold! I'll be thinking of you on that journey to Mongolia and that train is one of the places that I'm glad not to be. Take care and here's hoping that you don't end up climbing the walls.Love as always X
