Fishermans camp

We arrived at our first stop - Fisherman's campsite on Lake Naivasha on 14th February after stopping off to view the great rift valley on the way. The campsite was amazing - hot showers, laundry service and most importantly... a great bar! Some of the more weird and wonderful residents included Monkeys, hippos and Marabu stalks (the ugliest birds we've ever seen!)

The next day we awoke at 6:45am to begin a tour of Hell's gate national park. This is the only national park in Kenya where you are permitted to either walk or cycle through. I chose to walk, Aaron chose to cycle.

The walk was brilliant but tiring. We saw zebra, giraffe, wart hog and impala all up close and personal. The most amazing sight of this day was the flamingo's. There were literally hundreds of thousands of them all stood in the lake - it was certainly a sight. Especially when we ran towards them, arms flailing to get them to take off! We finished the walk with a cold drink over looking the lake and headed back to camp.

I went on the 12k cycle to Hells Gate. We had to cycle though a town/village on our way there, all the locals were out and about early doing what they do and I got my first experience of what it was like to be in amongst the people which was awesome. As we cycled through Hells Gate we got to see zebra, warthog, buffalo, gazelles and monkeys. We got to our stop and hiked for another couples of kilometers down though a valley/cave/cavern type place where parts of Tomb Raider we filmed. On our way back we stopped for lunch. I had goat for the first time! Chatted to our tour guide, he was 25 and planning to get married this year. I found out that if your are not married by that age the community and family don't allow you into their community of family meetings!!!

Got back to the camp site and had a Tusker (good local beer)!
