Where I stayed
For reasons which are not important at this point we ended up riding many miles today but not making a lot of southerly headway. No worries, though, because great roads and great weather make for a lovely day. We were in the 60s most of the day as we cruised US Hwy-2, WA Hwy-410. We spent all day winding our way through narrow valleys, spectacular rivers, in and out of the mountains in absolutely breathtaking scenery. We were able to visit Ellensburg, the home of Central Washington University (a lovely old campus with a personal connection). At the last minute we changed our route and ended up riding up to Mt. Rainier in the Wenatchee National Forrest, what a GREAT decision that was. It reminded us of our time riding in the Alps in June. Lots of beauty and easy riding today. One little setback, Blake got hit in the left cheeck (about an inch below his eye) by a small rock coming up off the tire of a large truck. I saw him flinch but never heard anything then, a little later, I saw him wipe his face and come back with blood on his glove. When we pulled over to check him out he was, indeed, bleeding. We cleaned him up, put a bandaid on his face and counted our blessings before getting back on the road. While we were pulled over, though, we met our new best friend in Washington. His name is Rudy and he's a 9 month old Golden Retriever with a face you just want to kiss all over. His "Dad" was very sweet and let us get in our puppy lovin' before we went on our way. You never know where the road will lead ... and to whom!

Comments
Chelan County
I just saw a commercial for Chelan County which is in the middle of Washington State. It looks beautiful and boasts 300 days of sunshine each year. Did you motor through that?
Man Card
Blake,
You get an extra Man Card for the wound and the dripping blood effect. You may redeem this on a day you can't go out for a ride because you decide to stay in and watch some chick flick to keep peace at home. Or any other spouse required low-testosterone activity that prevents you from manly activities.
If you are going to have a motorcycle and open wounds, we are going to have to get you a dog of some significant size.
