Before saying our final goodbye to the subcontinent, we had a day in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Thanks to the simmering relationship with the Tamil Tigers, our "walking tour" of the city was cut short by soldiers in WW1 style sandbag bunkers ushering us away from any vaguely interesting looking government or highrise building. So instead, we decided to embrace the expat lifestyle and spent our day in glam shopping malls, admiring cricket paraphernalia, and sipping G&Ts in a beautiful colonial hotel overlooking the seafront.
