In Boston Library. What party people we are. Went to a Red Sox game yesterday after queuing for most of the day, surrounded by the sounds of ticket touts and the smells of fatty hot dogs. Was a great atmosphere when we got inside, I think they go for the whole experience as it was hard to see the game with all the guys carrying boiling pretzel containers and trays of lemonade on their heads. Good fun, but too many innings. Falling asleep by the end, kind of like cricket I guess! Wouldn't have missed it though. The next day we walked the freedom trail - more evidence of the Brits abroad on the trail that directs you to the major sites in Boston's history, including the famous tea party. Saw a bunch of folk straight out of Oh Brother where art thou singing away in Boston common. Ate Chowder, traditional Boston fare. Walked a bit around the town, great place, then we decided to head out to Hahvahd. Quite a difference to UCD, Sussex or Heriot-Watt, let me tell you. Apparantly they have something like 29 billion in funds, second richest institution after the Vatican. Annoyed Gabrielle by singing "Massachusetts" in a bad BeeGees voice constantly. Also, apparantly Good Will Hunting was shot here so I kept singing random Elliot Smith tunes. Got lots of live music in too, there was a bloke from Donegal playing some Irish stuff in one of the bars, and an excellent reggae band in another. And of course we had to get a pint in the Cheers bar, which sadly is different to the one on tv on the inside. This being the US though, they have built a replica of the interior and it lives in the middle of a tourist mall in downtown, very odd.
