The bulk of my day today was meandering through the streets of Rome. Despite getting lost on several locations, I got to see some pretty spectacular stuff. The first major icon I tripped upon was the Spanish steps. I walked by this major landmark several times today since it is only two blocks from where I am staying. Seems like the thing to do is grab a gelato and chill on the steps.

I noticed very early in my day that the people in Rome treat their tourists quite different than in Florence. The people in Florence were so nice and helpful when needed and pretty much left you alone otherwise. This is not the case in Rome. Street vendors and even restaurants would get in my way to try and get me to buy whatever they are selling. I found the me who were selling roses to be the most aggressive and annoying.

I happened upon the many piazzas and fountains of Rome today. I knew the city was known for this, but you don't feel the grandeur of it all until you see It in person. It's hard to even fathom how an created these huge buildings and piazzas without all the modern technology and equipment we have today.

Of course I had to check out the Trevi Fountain today. You can't go to Rome and not toss a Euro into the fountain by throwing the coin with your right hand over your left shoulder. This is to ensure your return to this great city.

I also ran into the Pantheon, Piazza Novana, and the Roman Forum. Theses were all amazing sites, but they became more spectacular after dark. Many of Rome's most treasured places are lit up night with yellow lights that cast shadows similarly to what it may have been like with torches back in the day.
