We spent the day in Manuel Antonio National Park. It is one of Cosa Rica´s smallest parks, but also a favorite. We hiked into a small, rocky, beautiful beach and played in the warm ocean and ate our lunch. We continued hiking up to the vista that overlooks paradise, basically. We then hiked down to the more popular beach, which I would describe as more paradise. Because it is in a cove, the beach has small swells, but no breaking waves. It is perfect for swimming and bobbing about and synchronized routines. Then I retreated to my towel to read some of Angels and Deamons. Which, is a let down. I have decided that these church conspiracy novels are popular because they deal with religion, conspiracy and are so poorly written that the average American actually finish the whole thing. It is cheesy, action packed and too methodic. If Slyvester Stalone wrote novels...
Yesterday, along our river rafting trip we saw tons of jungle and rows of African Palm Plantations. The small seeds or fruits of these palm are pressed to produce an oil used for cooking, cosmetics, soaps and biodesiel. Interesting.
Today, during our 6 hours in the park, we saw lots of gregarious howler monkeys, two sloths, multiple lizards and big iguanas, big old bugs, unidentified birds and lots on gringos.
Tonight is ¨ladies night¨ at a local extablishment and I have been promised salsa. I haven´t danced since San Miguel, so I am hopeful. I don´t speak or understand much spanish, but when a street vendor told me tonight was ladies night, I managed to respond that every night is ladies night. good work!

Yes, more flora and fauna. Great pics, loved the weird plant thing which I identified as a type of cannis I bet. Are there orchids or do I watch to much tv? Can you pick bananas or is the wrong time of year? Do you see plants that are similar to my dinosaur plants? Can you swing from a vine? Are there viney plants with large exotic blooms?

Re: swe-e-e-e-t
i have not seen many orchids. perhaps i have not been looking. haven´t seen any banana trees, but oranges and coconuts. I had a straw in a coconut yesterday. it was goo. There are all kinds of big, green plants here. It is the rainforest. I do not know their names. And the jungle has some bugs or something that makes the strangest sounds ever.
It is the wet season, so only some things are in bloom. It is cool.
coconuts
Put a lime in the coconut and shake it all up. Might as well try it never made sense to me. You actually looked not sheet white in the photo of you and Adam.

paradise
OK, you little shit, next summer I'm sending Dylan to live with you and I'm going on the big adventure. I couldn't get you to bring me a chunk of the Parthenon, but how 'bout a bottle of Costa Rican sand? I could stick my big toe in it and pretend I am there. It's hot enough here, that's for sure, tho I am not covered in layers of Jell-o. Anyway, keep us all posted so I can continue my vicarious lifestyle :) Sash
turtles
I just saw where a certain kind of turtle, on a certain kind of moon, on a certain beach in Costa Rica come ashore to lay a certain amount of eggs and when the babies hatch there's a certain amount eaten by a certain amount of vultures as they race for the surf to escape to the sea. Do you know of this certain turtle and beach?
Heat wave in Oregon next few 5 or 6 days temps in the low hundreds, it was a whopping 75 at Twomile today.
That's my report for today - just can't shake me can you?
Adios
Re: turtles
there´s a place called tortuga, which means turtle, but i don´t think i´ll make it there. it´s expensive. i´m in domincal now. you can google it, it´s fucking hot and humid and i´m about to run out of bug spray. rasta night tonight. love you , me
Dominical
Surfer's mecca it said because of the way the ocean lines up with the mouth of the river. Sounds like the Coquille and Pacific only it makes for boaters hell and the water averages 52 degrees or some hellish thing.Bugs, eh? Covered in bites? Doesn't sound too fun.
Ok, that's it for today, 'hot' here, towns covered in tourists and we have bathroom duty all weekend. Gotta love those public restrooms.
