I was scheduled to attend the 2008 Cargo Theft summit for work that was scheduled this year in Safety Harbor, Florida (adjacent to Tampa and St. Petersburg). I took US41 (Tamiami Trail) to Naples where I hopped onto I-75 till I-275.I stayed at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa (www.safetyharborresort.com). One of the highlights of the ride was crossing the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (www.interstate275florida.com).
I left Miami at 1:30pm and arrived at the resort at 6pm on Monday April 14. The weather was great (+/- 75 degrees) until I entered the St. Petersburg area when the temperature began to drop (+/- 57 degrees).
I departed for home on Wednesday morning at 9am when the temperature was in the low 50's. The weather was too cold for my liking until I reached the Naples area and the temperature had increased to about 68 degrees.
On US41 there was a controlled fire taking place by firefighters. That was an interesting sight as I could feel the heat from the fire.
In total I rode 526 miles and the bike handled superbly.
