It is that time of year again: the Daytona Beach Bike Week (http://www.officialbikeweek.com/). From March 4th to the 13th 90% of local Daytona residents go on vacation in order to avoid the crazy people and excessively loud motorcycles that take over this city. Then in October you have another bike week, which is better known as Biketoberfest (http://biketoberfest.org). Bike Week has been a tradition since January 24, 1937 - the inaugural running of the Daytona 200.

Rusty and I decided to ride up for the day, enjoy the sights and sounds and then ride back. Yes, it is a long ride, but you have to remember that my brother and I love to ride. This was Vera's first loooonnggg ride. She did well other than the numb legs and sore behind. She is however reconsidering our next planned ride, which will be in June and will take us all the way up the east coast to Canada and back. Stay tuned for that ride.

We departed Miami at 5am with a bone chilling 50 degree temperature. It was very cold. We met up with a friend of Rusty's, Jim Ruth, at the West Palm Beach turnpike service station and from there rode to Fort Pierce (http://www.cityoffortpierce.com/) where we stopped for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel (http://www.crackerbarrel.com/). You always get a great meal and good service at the Cracker Barrel (at least that has been my experience).

We arrived in Daytona Beach (http://www.daytonabeach.com/) right around 10:30am and took in the sights and sounds. We checked out the latest and bestest the motorcycle manufacturers had to offer and thereafter visited downtown Daytona. At around 4pm we started our ride back south and stopped in at mom and dads place in Boynton Beach where we had dinner and spent the night.

Following the long day we just had we all slept great !!!
