Vera and I decided to get the kids together for a fun weekend outing. We decided on Aquatica (http://aquaticabyseaworld.com) and purchased our tickets. Two days prior to our departure date (when the kids were scheduled to be with me again) the childrens mother informs me that Christopher has a bad cough, which he did. My amazing Vera was able to somehow hook us up with last minute passes to Universal and so off we were to Islands of Adventure (http://www.universalorlando.com/OverviewPages/TP/themeparks.aspx). It was Rebecca, Christopher and my first time visiting this park. Jennifer, Melanie and Vera had already been here a few times.

All the kids (even the two big ones) had a great time. Our 4 "Things" loved Seuss Landing and Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges. I personally liked the Jurassic Park River Adventure, Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges, and Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls. Jennifer, Rebecca and Melanie got soaked at every opportunity that presented itself. My little man Chris was not happy that I would not let him do so, but he did understand (I hope). Regretfully we did not get to go on any of the Marvel Super Hero Island rides as by the time we made it to this section of the park the rides had closed. Regardless the kids were too short for many of these rides. Christopher was quite upset that he did not get to go on the Incredible Hulk Coaster. After I reminded him that we only live four hours away he cheered up again :o)

Vera and I were completely and utterly exhausted. We started the day off at around 9am and by 7pm we were done for. Then there was Jennifer, Rebecca, Melanie and Christopher who were ready to start at the next park. We had mentioned that we would go back to the hotel, freshen up, and then go out for an ice cream. Well ..... after a nice warm bath there was no getting anyone out of the rooms. We were all asleep by 9:30pm - aaahhhhhhh.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/mcous-fairfield-inn-and-suites-orlando-near-universal-orlando-resort/). This was a very nice property. Rooms were clean; beds were very comfortable, breakfast was excellent, and it is located directlty across from the Universal parks.

It was a nice weekend getaway. The kids all got along great and other than one of them getting a finger caught in a closing car door (just bruised luckily) it was a great weekend. I am looking forward to the next one already, which as a matter of fact will be in two weeks when again we go to Orlando and this time we will be joined by cousins Ingrid, Alexandra, Mimi, Patrick, Kyra, Aunt Glenda, and the Croes family. We intend to use our Aquatica tickets then so hopefully all the kids will be with no colds or coughs.

Thank you Vera for all the arrangements you made and making this a wonderful weekend. Te quiero linda  :o)
