Day 13:
A3 C14 odometer reading 7836 miles
Rusty 1200RT odometer reading 29316 miles
We started the day off at 10am. By the way I should mention that Rusty and I elected to start our days off a bit later now in order not to have to stare into the sun as it rises (now that we will be riding due east). Our destination this morning would be the Four Corners Monument (http://www.utah.com/playgrounds/four_corners.htm). A fitting destination for the tour we are currently; right? Well for those of you that don't know this the Four Corners National Monument is simply the intersection where the states of Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado all come together (see pics). So for all of 20 minutes Rusty and I were in more than one place at the same time - ha ha ha. The picture of the two of us on the monument was funny enough taken by a Dutch family, from Zoetemeer, on vacation. This monument was exactly a 250 mile drive from Holbrook, AZ.
We next crossed over into Colorado and traveled on US160. The ride from Pagosa Springs to South Fork has now officially been the most beautiful roads we have traveled yet. On this stretch we crossed the Wolf Creek Pass (http://www.sangres.com/features/wolfcreekpass.htm). The scenery was breathtaking. I wish we could have spent several days in this area. Wow !!!! We ended the day at 8:15pm in Monte Vista, Colorado, at the Best Western Movie Manor (http://www.bestwesterncolorado.com/hotels/best-western-movie-manor-motor-inn/). What a great motel. All the rooms are named after movie actors, and the motel itself is located adjacent to a Drive Inn theatre. You can watch the movies being played at the Drive Inn theatre from the comfort of your room as all of them have a speaker box in the room to hear the movie. Really different and really nice.
We rode a grand total of 444 miles today.
