Day 9:

A3 C14 odometer reading 6504 miles
Rusty 1200Rt reading 27977 miles

Well, what I believe is the worst thing that could happen - happened today. Because of what happened with my electrical gear yesterday (camera battery charger, etc) I elected to dispose of the 1 gallon gas container, but before doing so we had to consume the gallong of gas it contained; so I poured it into my tank. As we departed the El Dorado we stopped to fill up our tanks before we hit US395 southbound to Lake Tahoe.

As we drove onto US395 Rusty called me and informed me that my exhaust was blowing out blue smoke (i.e. burning oil), and minutes later I started losing power on the bike so I decided to pull over at a gas station. That is when my bike shut down and would not start up again. After trying and trying to crank the engine up again we finally decided to call it quits and call AAA http://www.aaa.com/) to tow my motorcycle to local repair shop. Wouldn't you know it that everything was closed on a Sunday, which forced us to overnight in Reno again. We were informed by the tow truck driver that most service repairs were also closed on Mondays, which really puzzled me. Anyway we checked-in to a Marriott Courtyard this time and started researching what options we had. Rusty went off on his bike and found a couple of shops open (sales only, not service) who informed us to call them Monday morning as their service repair departments would be open; so that is the plan at this time. We will wake up early and start calling around and hope to find someone that will attend to my bike.

At this time I believe the problem to be with the gasoline that was in the 1-gallon container. Rusty had previously used this container for his remote control boats, which require an oil/gas mix. Although the container was empty for many months it is apparent to me that oil residue must have remained within and this must have mixed with gas that we pumped into the container, and this may have clogged my fuel filter which explains why the bike will not start up. Well I hope that to be the extent of the problem and that someone will service my bike tomorrow if not we may have to spend another night in Reno. Oh boy !!!!!  :o(

So in closing for this day we rode a grand total of about 25 miles (that includes my mileage on the tow truck).

Cross your fingers for us that they can service my bike tomorrow and that we can hit the road as this has really put a crunch in our time to visit Lake Tahoe, Yosemite and Seqouia.

By the way I have not been able to download my pictures from my camera for the last two days because this computer I am using restricts me from doing so. Therefore I hope to update the pics in the coming days.

Take care amigos.
