Day 3:

We started the day at 8:30am CST and we were blessed with overcast skies, which kept the temperature in the mid 70's all the way till St. Louis, MO. From St. Louis till about Iowa it got hot again, and for the final stretch it cooled down for us again. Overall the temperature today was agreeable.

A3 C14 odometer reading: 2794 miles
Rusty 1200RT odometer reading: 24365 miles

We witnessed a victim that we were warned out about before starting this ride. A dear on the side of the road who dared to challenge a car or truck. Poor thing did not have a chance. We have been fortunate so far not to encounter any large animals on the road. I came inches from hitting some bird that zoomed in front of my bike while I was doing around 80 mph. That was one lucky bird.

We made it to St. Louis and we could not find a good spot to park our bikes to take a picture under the Gateway Arch. So we opted to ride up on the sidewalk and snap some quick photos before any authority figures would come our way, which we managed to evade. But it appears we started a trend as right behind us two guys from Italy pulled up on the sidewalk as well to do the same thing  :o)    These guys were riding Route 66 from LA to NYC.

A sunscreen can (self spray) that I brought along and stored in my rear storage case deployed while we were riding and made a complete mess. Took me a while to get it cleaned out  :o(

We ended the day at 10:15pm in Lincoln, Nebraska at a Sleep Inn motel.

We rode a grand total of 696 miles today.

Hello Andrecito!
Hi Andre and Rusty:

Hope you guys are holding up in the heat! When you get to Massachusetts I have a nice cool pool for you to jump into!

It was great to see the photo of Ski and Saskia!

I forwarded your travel's to my parents and you happen to own my father's dream bike. They are really enjoying hearing about your trip (living it through the young guns!)

Keep everyone updated and see you soon!

Karencita
