My brother Rusty's birthday falls on October 29th (btw - so does my sisters). On that evening I went out to dinner with him and a colleague of his that was in town from Spain. We had a pleasant conversation and a nice meal at the Bonefish Grill Restaurant (http://www.bonefishgrill.com/locator/details/west-miami-florida/).

I decided to arrange a little get-together on Saturday, November 1, 2008, to celebrate Rusty's birthday. We both would have our kids this weekend so it would be fun to do something nice for the kids at the same time. I invited grandma and grandpa over as well as a few of Rusty's friends and neighbours (i.e. Max and Maria, Jean Marc and his daughter Julia, Janine, Connie, and Viviana with sons Derek and Craig). Others were invited but could not make it.

I purchased a baloon kit (i.e. disposable helium tank with baloons and string, stickers, etc) and some birthday plates, napkins and banners at Party City (http://www.partycity.com/), and some "arroz con pollo" and "maduros" (that is rice and chicken with sweet plantains to you non spanish speaking) from Blue Sky Food By The Pound (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/12/150617/restaurant/Kendall-Pinecrest/Blue-Sky-Food-By-the-Pound-Miami).

Saturday morning Rebecca, Christopher and Hubert helped me decorate the house. We blew up a bunch of baloons and put silly face stickers on them. Thereafter we put a "Happy Birthday" banner over the family room sliding doors. The kids were thrilled with the baloon part  :o).

After all the guests arrived and we all had lunch I took all five kids to the pool; that is Rebecca, Christopher, Hubert, and cousins Derek and Craig. We stayed there for about an hour and then on our return home I took them out rowing on the lake. We rowed across the lake and back and those darn kids kept trying to flip the boat on me - what's up with that? Well then it was shower time for all of us and then with Uncle Rusty we took them out for Pizza, which they all had asked for, to Ferrari's Pizzeria (http://local.yahoo.com/info-42478058-ferrari-s-pizzeria-rstrnt-miami).

We arrived home after dropping off Derek and Craig and the kids then asked to watch The Hulk (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1807592188/info). Yeah, that's right ... a 3, 4 and 5 year old asked to watch The Hulk. Well not even ten minutes into that they all zoned out  ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz  :o).

Well that's it. It was a great day for Rusty and the kids had a blast in the process  :o)
