I went to the killing fields today, it left me feeling lost for words and any words that i might have mustered would have been wobbly and unjustified. Looking at people's skulls that are the age of yourself, that were murdered in horrific ways only 27 years ago is a haunting one. The skulls are piled up in a glass case, some so high they will not be seen, others viewed everyday by tourists.
As I walked around the site, it was uncomfortably easy to imagine what horrors accrued beacuse there are still clothes, teeth and bone coming up through the mud. With every heavy rain more mud and dirt is shifted to reveal them.
On a better note, i have decided to go to thailand and renew my visa, so will be back on wednesday. I'm heading to kohkong which is a pretty seaside town, but boarders Thailand.
I did another swimming session yesterday, it was the little kids who went, the five new students went, and seeing them learn to swim was fantastic. They don't speak any english yet, but i could tell they were having a ball, they though it was amazing! At the start they looked like confused puppies, by the end they were at least, relaxed, playing and practising keeping their bum from sinking!
When we arrived back to the centre, there was a surprise visit from a Jazz band. They all loved the singing and the balloons she brought! It was chaos but that all died down as they listened to the wonderful voice of the singer!
Today I have been here a month! Going fast and still loving it!
