So, today I got up early (real early, like 4:30) because there was a cold wind blowing and the sky started to light again. It was still about one hour till sunrise, but light enough to pack my stuff and have breakfast. Perfect! The days end early out here, but they start early, too.
The sunrise over the Jordan mountains was just as good as the sunset. I started hiking down "my" mountain, back on a track that would lead me to the road: I didn't want to, but I was running short on water. There, I hitched a ride to Eilat, but I did not stop in the city. I walked straight on to the Taba border crossing to go to Egypt. I had no time, there is only one bus each day from Taba down south, which I did not want to miss. Eilat and Taba both have beachfronts with huge hotels etc, which is not my thing. So I crossed the border (the first time I crossed a non-European border on foot). That was really easy, a quick x-ray of my bag, the question if I carried any weapons or drugs ("No, not today...") and I was through. Egypt!
