The day began early, After eating breakfast at the Best Western we took off in search of a car wash to remove the salt from yesterday's drive. When we found a couple they were not open yet as the temperature was at freezing and they were worried about their equipment. Then we tried to get gas and the credit card was not authorized necessitating a call to Visa. I am starting to lose track of how many times that has happened to us! Forty-five minutes later I was beginning to think I should go back to bed!

Thankfully we had a beautiful drive through a different part of Kentucky on the I65 - very hilly, treed, and scenic. There was a Starbucks just outside Louisville that was unbelievably packed for being in the middle of no where.

Richard discovered that we were going right by the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green so of course we stopped there for a look. Boy there were a lot of Corvettes but as Richard said most were newer than the Fiat. There was way too much techno babble for my comprehension but an impressive facility none the less. We saw an older couple taking delivery of a new car they had won in a raffle. As it was lunch time we split a salad at the cafe - a 50's decorated restaurant.

Then it was on to Nashville. The truck traffic was incredible as we neared the Music City. We had booked a couple of nights at the Gaylord Opryland Resort outside of downtown proper. What a spot! I had no idea of the size of it. Unfortunately we did not get off to a good start as we wanted to self-park rather than valet park and whether it was the greeters, bell hops, or reception staff - they all seemed to assume you knew what you were doing when of course we did not.

Our room is lovely - #3337 in the Magnolia Section. We look out onto one of the indoor aria - full of plants and flowers and water features. Our first stop was the concierge to book tickets for tomorrow night at Opryland and also get tickets for the shuttle downtown. In spite of the fact that we were told our room card would allow us to self-park it did not meaning that we had to go back to reception and then park - all while we were in a hurry to catch the shuttle!

We disembarked outside Ryman Auditorium but it was too late for a tour so we walked down to Broadway where the music happens and sure enough there were loads of spots to choose from. We visited Legends Corner (Megan Ellis) and Tootsies Orchid Lounge before dinner at Merchants, and then Wheels after dinner. The shuttle would pick us up at the Wild Horse Saloon so we walked back along Broadway to 2nd Ave.

It was into the 60s today - hooray! Gosh that sun feels good even though it is bad for you!
