Thanks to all of you who have kept up with this blog and corresponded with us. You no doubt what happened this week with so few entries.

I received a call from my mother Tuesday morning to say that my father had suffered a stroke Monday and was in hospital. I flew home Wednesday, arriving home 9:30 pm-ish and went right to the hospital.

He appears to have been very lucky in that he suffered a blocked artery in the right side of his brain and the only real evidence seems to be a droopy mouth on the left side. There's no paralysis and he is walking etc. Because of his dementia my mother would not leave him in the hospital unattended. Luckily my sister also flew home Wednesday and there's been lots for us to do. My mother coincidentally had the two front windows of her house replaced yesterday so thankfully we were able to handle that for her.

Dad came home this afternoon and had a bit of a rough spell right after dinner feeling nauseous but with both my mother and sister there I decided I too could finally come home. I had popped in yesterday to pick up a car and raise the thermostat. Thanks to our neighbours things were all in great shape.

After two nights in Toronto but away from home I'm really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight. Richard comes home Sunday as per the original plan.

I will finish this blog with some more pictures but I'm not sure when.

I just wanted to let you know why I'd been absent and wish you all the best of the season.

Thoughts and prayers with you and your parents....thankfully, there may not be any after effects from the stroke - the droopy mouth may still resolve. Have a peaceful Christmas. Brrrrr.......it is cold outside :)
