It was such a beautiful morning we walked before the 8:30 am breakfast. There were lots of church bells ringing and congregations attending the nearby churches in historic downtown. Breakfast was yummy blueberry blintzes. The original plan was to visit the World Golf Hall of Fame but I discovered in the AAA book that it didn't open until noon on Sunday. So we crossed the temporary bridge adjacent to the Bridge of Lions and continued south on Hwy A1A passing lots of very similar-looking beach communities. The first stop was Daytona Beach where it was obvious that it was the first racing week from all the motel/hotel signs welcoming racers. Quite by accident we parked right at the pier and walked out to observe the beach. The town was every bit as tacky as I expected it to be. Decided to stay at Cocoa Beach so passed the Kennedy Space Centre which we plan to visit tomorrow. Could see the launch sites and Port Canaveral Cruise Ship Centre as we drove to Cocoa Beach. Got checked in early afternoon and went across the highway to the Publix to pick up some groceries for lunch and dinner as we have a frig and microwave in the room #128. Managed to have our first nap before Richard took advantage of the pool and we walked the beach. The temperature was up to 70 degrees today - too cool still for me to get wet. It's nice to stop moving and actually enjoy the environs.
